HOW AUSTRALIAN MADE ARE THE PRODUCTS YOU BUY?
It’s a fair question. It seems we like to believe that a product is Australian made because it says so on the label. Of course the Australian made symbol on a product indicates there has been some checks and balances if it is a legal use of the iconic logo, but what constitutes an Australian made product? Is it just the contents of the product container that allows it to be branded Australian made or is it including the container?
Truth is, when it comes to sourcing Australian manufactured recycled containers there are a surprisingly large amount of Australian manufacturers.
The trick question here is, why then, do so many businesses selling ‘natural’ cleaners (or any Australian product really), source their containers offshore and not purchase locally made containers?
Sadly, it always comes down to that one thing, profit. They are cheaper to buy offshore than onshore, but only from a financial angle and definitely not from a sustainability, environmental or a buy Australian angle.
We get that profit has to be made for a business to survive, but what about the local economy, what about emission controls, what about pollution, what about resources and sustainability, what about Australian made? So, should they truly be classified as Australian Made? Just a thought that is often over
We too could source cheaper containers off shore and make more profit on our Wild Organic Wash products, though we choose not to. That would definitely go against two of our founding philosophy’s:
REFILL & SAVE
Although recyclable, to assist in reducing our waste, the containers are sturdy so they can be used over and over, so we recommend either refilling by purchasing refill containers or if you live locally to Burringbar NSW, you can bring your empties to be refilled on site, making it a much cheaper and sustainable option.
